Melissa Cruz has over six years of experience working with women, babies, and families. Melissa began her doula career as a solo doula in 2013 under the name Cruz Doula Services. As a solo doula Melissa served the families of the Fayetteville/Fort Bragg areas as a birth doula, postpartum doula, and placenta encapsulation specialist.
Melissa continuously seeks out additional training opportunities so she can remain relevant and knowledgeable in the areas of pregnancy, birth, postpartum and mental health. In October of 2017, Melissa began training as a birth assistant to a local CNM and took an independent representative position with a medical supply company so she can assist military members in obtaining a breast pump through Tricare.
Prior to becoming a doula, Melissa volunteered with Babywearing International of Fayetteville as a Volunteer Babywearing Educator and served as chapter president. Melissa has four children; three of whom were born in army hospitals, with epidurals, and one who was born at home via a planned home birth.
